The use of operational technology (OT) data in the built environment has become increasingly significant in recent years. A smart building’s data holds immense value in terms of optimizing operations, battling against rising energy costs, and contributing to a sustainable environment.

Access to the right OT data and the organization of your building’s data is one of the fundamental requirements to maximize the performance and efficiency of your facilities and the equipment running them. How your data is identified and presented to the different stakeholders continues to be a challenge.

Why E2E is Important?

Lynxspring’s E2E is an edge-to-enterprise data management platform that securely connects your building’s OT systems and equipment. Through a unified enterprise user interface, your data is collected, tagged, normalized, and aggregated into a single, IDL (independent data layer).

E2E’s adaptive connectivity makes it possible to connect to most any system, device or equipment from a single broker, standardizing your data in a unified way for faster integration.

Standardizing, modeling, tagging and normalizing your OT data across your building operations is at the foundation of efficient data management. E2E, Unified by Connexxion®, is Lynxspring’s solution to better capitalize on the benefits of a semantic data approach that brings together a common vocabulary, classification and relationship between equipment, systems, and the devices operating today’s buildings via utilization of Project Haystack.

Lynxspring has also developed an extensive library of rules and functions for the analytics platform. This library is available to all E2E customers to help implement their energy analytics, fault detection and diagnosis strategies. Analytics rules prewritten for common applications may be applied to any data source with consistent data points and name or tagging (i.e., Project Haystack) to view trends, discrepancies or other data for any application such as operational data, inventory, CMMS and IAQ or any other application.

Translating facility operational and equipment data into actionable information, E2E addresses key KPIs and delivers data-driven insights that help your facility, operations and corporate management deliver optimal workplace experiences, efficiencies, savings, and results while ensuring the overall integrity and governance of your data.

The platform creates an integrated edge-to-cloud experience that enables data interoperability from diverse sources and prepares your data to be utilized in a variety of third-party applications such as energy management, predictive and preventative analytics, work order management, FDD and more.

Lynxspring provides everything you need to deploy a smart, connected enterprise facility including the automation, command, control, data access, normalization and analytics, and facility management APIs, Cloud services and a storage repository.

Options Available

The JENEsys Edge® Connector™:

Resides within the OS and is written into the firmware enabling it to come standard on every device within Lynxspring’s JENEsys Edge product portfolio including the JENEsys Edge 534, 514, 414, 434, and VAV. The JENEsys Edge Connector has the ability to connect to the Cloud in a one-to-one relationship or in multiples in a building. Each device has its own profile enabling an edge to Cloud connection over MQTT/TCP.

Use Case Applications:

Perfect as an equipment controller or a small building controller (i.e., convenience store).

The JENEsys® Connector™:

Is a licensed Niagara Service that is installed by a licensed Niagara-certified BAS technician and is only available from Lynxspring. The JENEsys Connector is also backwards compatible via Lynxspring supported Niagara versions. The JENEsys Connector has the ability to connect to the Cloud in a
one-to-one relationship.

Use Case Applications:

Perfect in a larger building such as a commercial office building, industrial plant, or a larger school.

The E2E® Site Connector™:

Is equipped to consolidate traffic of multiple Niagara instances in the same building and allows for a single point of exit for multiple devices. For example:  a building with ten Edge devices could all point to one platform connector to route data to Connexxion.

Use Case Applications:

Perfect for multiple instances of RTUs, AHUs, Chillers, Boilers.

E2E Unified by Connexxion®

Connexxion® facilitates integrations to 3rd party applications that help you to identify faults or abnormalities and diagnose issues. This allows users to deploy smart energy practices simply and efficiently such as analytics, KPIs, fault detection and predictive outcomes to make real-time decisions and data driven calculations.

Combining the core functionalities of IT and OT along with Haystack tagging, data modeling and an API, Connexxion is compatible with any application. The platform provides a complete suite of services to capture data from disparate sources. Typical applications include analytics, DCIM, CMMS, BMS, energy management, data lakes, weather services, utilities, and IoT devices.

Advantages and Benefits of Lynxspring’s E2E Services

It defines the structure of OT data in a clear and organized manner. It specifies data types, the relationship between the data elements and how they are grouped and stored. This organization simplifies the process of data entry and retrieval. It also reduces the opportunity for human error.

Accuracy, Consistency & Integrity

Ensure integrity, reliability, and predictability of your data. This means that the data stored within the database is consistent and dependable. It ensures consistency in data representation across the organization. This consistency is especially important in systems where multiple users or applications interact with the same dataset.

When changes in business requirements or processes occur, it provides a foundation for making modifications to the database structure.

Data Security & Governance

Access controls, permissions, and encryption strategies can be integrated into the data model to ensure that sensitive information is guarded from unauthorized access. Dictates how information should be shared across business units and mandates data uniformity. It also ensures only the appropriate systems and users have access to view the data.

Efficiency, Interoperability & Communication

The IDL can be optimized for efficient querying and access. The ability for multiple users across different job functions to look at data and quickly know its source and structure. Acts as a common language for different stakeholders, including business analysts, developers, and database administrators. It helps them understand the structure and meaning of the data, fostering better collaboration.

As data volumes grow, new data can be added without causing significant disruptions to the existing structure, and the database can be expanded to accommodate increasing data demands.
